A Washington correspondent says the Chicago ticket is the weightiest ever put out by a na tional convention in the history of the country. Secretary Taft and Jas. S. Sherman would make the scales register close to 500 pounds, exceeding by nearly 100 pounds the combined weight o f any ticket ever nominated. Up to this fime the record was held by the democrats when they nominated Cleveland in 1892. At that time Mr. Cleveland weighed about 275, while his run ning mate, Adlaf Stevenson, pulled down only 150 pounds, making the total physical weight o f the team about425 pounds. McKin ley and Hobart nominated by the republicans in 1896, made a pretty heavy team, bat not up to the democratic record. Presi dent McKinley weighed about 180 pounds when nominated, and Vice President Hobart about 200 pounds, giving an aggregate weight o f about 380 pounds to the ticket.
