T“ V“ Coquille Herald. WEDNESDAY, JA N. 8. 1908 A G reat Cem pany. If you want to be >r music that you «ill w histle for days and listen to comedy that you w ill revive it self in your mind for days after wards, just see “ The Pride of New Y ork" which comes to the Opera House on Jan. 9th. It is among the reigning successes in the farcical line and wins unstinted applause where ever presented. The story deals of show life and its many humorous tribulations in connec tion with a contemplated produc tion. The characters are all true to life and have been met by thous ands who have met actor folks in any condition. There is a specu lating Hebrew, the directing Ger man, the legitimate Shakespearian devotee, the tough soubrette, the love sick tenor and prima donna who acts for the love of it, together with a coterie of others and the chorus. During the action of the play there are no less than 14 musical numbers interwoven that never fail to delight the auditor. This company is now playing Marshiield to the biggest business in the history of their bouse and is pronounced by, all to be the greatest organization that has ever yisited this part of the state. The second night will be "Girl from Frisco” which is another screaming comedy with plenty of catch specialties and lots of pretty wardrobe, The marshiield Times pronounce this the greatest Com pany that has visited this part of the state. The prices will be 35, 50 and 75 cents. Wave Hits Breakwater. The Breakwater returned to the harbor this afternoon with her port bow damaged from the effects of a huge wave which swept the decks of the boat near the whistling buoy. Only one of the passengers in the steerage was injured and immediate ly after the accident tile steamer put back into the harbor and is now tied up at her dock at North Bend Beyond the bruising of the seamen pretty badly it is not thought the damage is serious enough to inter fere with the boot continuing her trip tomorrow, According to the report of a pas. senger who arrived in Marshfield, four seamen were badly injured. Two are not expected to recover, third had both legs and collar bone broken, and the fourth is badly bruised. The steerage was washed clear of the decks, and baggage was sent all over the ship, some of it go ing ovorboard nfter the breaking of the guard. The accident happened as the ship was going out. She had dipped for ward in the hollow of n wave, when an immense comber swept the ship trom end to end, coming in on the port eied. A window in the pilot house was broken, and only the ab sence of steerage passengers pre vented other casualties. The sea men were inside the when the crash came. The boat went out to sea four miles before returning. The accident happened at noon and the boat returned to North Bend at 3:30 o’clock.
