Edmunds and family passed through town the middle of last week for the bay where they took passage on a Portland bound steamer, being on their way to The Dalles, Oregon, where they will re side for a time at least. Mr. and Mrs. Edmunds have a daughter living there she being a trained nurse of that city, also and a son who is a bookkeeper in one of the banks at that place. If satisfied with the country they intend to locate, but if not, they will make but a temporary sojourn for a change of climate. Mr. Edmunds assures us that they do not dislike Coos county, and dare not venture the assertion that they will not return to its gen ial climate in the near future. They have lived here thirteen years, all of which time Mr. Edmunds has been one of our leading educators, it being our opinion that he has lost less time in those years from tbe school room than any teacher in tbe county, aod he bolds papers as high as it is in the power of our state to give, a life diploma. While we wish them the best of success in their new home, we will be glad to welcome them on their return.
