F. E. Drone, o f Parkersburg, re­
sum ed the latter part o f last weak
from a business trip to Roedsport,
Gardiner and Portland. On his way
home he enjoyed a brief visit with
his brother-in-law, A . J. Newton, at
Coquille. Mr. Newton has just re­
turned from France, and while he did
not get into the real fight there he
has many interesting thing* to tell.
He arrived in France on November
6th; on the 9th he took down with the
meealee and immediately afterwards
with the “flu.”

Mr. Newton left Parkersburg in the
draft in July. He was than employed
