A fistic treat is in store for fol lowers of boxing, according to word received from the Coquille Active club today. Present plans are that the local booster club will conduct a smoker at the Coquille Com munity building on the night of November 8th. More than th irty youngsters of different age groups have been meeting at the Community build ing each Monday and Tuesday evening for the past month, learn ing the basic principles of self-de fense and perfecting their ability to defend themselves in the ring. Pirates Lead Coos Elevens The Marshfield Pirates defeated North Bend in one of the two league games played last Friday night. The final score was 20-12. The victory put the Pirates at the top o.f the league with two wins, no defeats and one tie. Myrtle Point’s Bobcats, playing a non-conference tilt w ith Lebanon displayed excellent form and tre mendous power in overcoming the visitors from Lebandon, 33-0. In the only other league game played Roseburg trounced Reeds port 38-0 in a game that saw the Indians score in every quarter. Final score was 13-0. Excellent defensive play by the Coquille boys kept the game scoreless throughout the first half, but they, in turn were also unable to penetrate the stubborn North Bend defense, Play throughout that first half centered around the fifty-yard marker. A fake reverse in the third quarter accounted for the first North Bend touchdown, but the conversion attempt failed. Score at the end of the third quarter was 6-0. Gary Claver, Wildcat quarter back, showed excellent ability as a passer. The Wildcats outgained North Bend by better than sixty yards through the air, a total that would have been considerably more If the Wildcat ends had been able to hang onto Clavers tosses. The final North Bend touch down came late In the final quar ter. This time the conversion was good, making the final score 13-0. Darwin Peper, veteran center, w ill be out of the lineup, but Wethers has been showing steady improvement in that position and is, according to Case, a most cap able substitute for Peper.
