Pirates Lead
Coos Elevens
The Marshfield Pirates defeated
North Bend in one of the two league
games played last Friday night.
The final score was 20-12.
The victory put the Pirates at
the top o.f the league with two
wins, no defeats and one tie.
Myrtle Point’s Bobcats, playing
a non-conference tilt w ith Lebanon
displayed excellent form and tre
mendous power in overcoming the
visitors from Lebandon, 33-0.
In the only other league game
played Roseburg trounced Reeds
port 38-0 in a game that saw the
Indians score in every quarter.

Coquille Juniors Lose To North Bend 13-0
Meet Marshfield Here Saturday Night
The Coquille junior high school Wildcats lost a thrill-
mg hard-fought game to North Bend last Saturday afternoon
on the North Bend field. Final score was 13-0.
Excellent defensive play by the Coquille boys kept the
game scoreless throughout the first half, but they, in turn
were also unable to penetrate the
stubborn North Bend defense,

A fake reverse in the third
quarter accounted for the first
North Bend touchdown, but the
conversion attempt failed. Score
at the end of the third quarter
was 6-0.
Gary Claver, Wildcat quarter
back, showed excellent ability as
a passer. The Wildcats outgained
North Bend by better than sixty
yards through the air, a total that
would have been considerably
more If the Wildcat ends had been
able to hang onto Clavers tosses.
The final North Bend touch
down came late In the final quar
ter. This time the

was good, making the final score
13-0.
