The G rovers have won seven games to date w ithout even com A ll through the season, the Loggers have played like real champions, and one bad day is not going to alter the fact that they are a great ball club. Handicapped as they were by in juries, and to an extent, overconfident in their own power, the lose of that Bandon game w ill have a steadying influence that might otherwise be lacking when Coquille meets her toughest test, this week. Bill Fortier’s boys have everything it takes to win an? ball game, and Sunday’s Fourth of July game is né exception. With Olson on tne mound, March and back at short-stop, and Douglas back in the line-up, the hitting power of Goodman, Meek, Steinmetz, Mc lntee, Salsbury, and Allison w ill break the back of any team. Undoubtedly, it w ill be a titanic struggle, but we predict a Coquille victory by the time that ninth in ning rolls around next Sunday at the Coquille ball-park. • • Loggers Bow To Bandon N ine 10-2 The Coquille Loggers ran smack in to their first defeat of the season last Sunday when they dropped a South western Oregon baseball league game to n st5on* Bandon nine on the Co- 10*26 d*amond- The final count was fr2 i j e , hdeiea1t, df opP®d the Loggers th~ roU oi undefeated clubs. . £ Oqf Ule boy® never seemed ing close to losing a decision. t Behind this superb pitching staff to be able to get set, and only suc Largely responsible y, fin e ‘ are four first-stringers from Pacific ceeded in hitting safely twice during showing of Delbert J e X n . ’cousm ^ f i University.
