SCOUT LEADERS SEEK BUDGET CUT FOR COOS Yes, Snow Falls Tennis Court Is Here Occasionally Approved—Work Following two days of intermittent sleet, hail and rain, the southwestern Oregon coast was treated (if you call it a treat) to the same sort of weather conditions that have pre vailed over all the Northwest. Tues day night it began to snow, the fall probably being in excess of two inches had it not melted so quickly. But it kept at it off and on all day yesterday and this morning’s daylight showed a virgin white earth with the thermometer just under freezing so that tires crunched ice on the pave ment instead of sinking through a soft bed of flakes. It is the first real snowfall this section has had in two or- three years but it is not heavy enough to lay on the ground for six weeks as it did 20 years ago. To Start Soon Teachers 100 Per Cent Chamber of Commerce Members Tournament in New Gym March 3-4 The Red Devils basketball squad has no home game this week. Their Marshfield game was unexpectedly shoved forward from Tuesday to Monday evening and on Friday (to morrow) they journey out to Rose burg to meet the Indians. The district tournament has been definitely set tor playing in the new Coquille High gymnasium, on March 3 and 4. Supt. B. W. Dunn has been named to handle the tournament’« business affairs. It is expected that the balcony bleacher seats will be put in place this week. When that is done the gym will accommodate only 200 or 300 less than can be seated in the North Bend hall where tournaments have been held. == $2.60 TUB YEAR CITY COUNCIL PASSES ON MANY MATTERS Announcement was made this week that the project of the Coquille junior Skating, Dogs, Protest And Scout Officials Feel That The chamber of commerce for a tennis Claiming no credit for thé showing court project with the WPA had been himself, J.
