THB COQUILLE VALLET 8ENTINRL. COQUILLE. OREGON. FRIDAY. MAY 21, 19^8. High School Notes 1 (From Coquille Hi Times) Although in the past years Coquille High has won athletic championships, this year they have accomplished more in the way of scholarship and have received due recognition. A chapter of the National Torch Honor Society has been installed this year and seventeen students were found eligible to becohle members. To be long to the Honor Society is one ot the highest honors a high school stu dent can earn. Besides the installing I of the Honor Society the high school has successfully introduced the inter- , class rivalry system. This provides I for friendly competition among stu- ‘ dents and tends to promote a greater | efficiency on the part of the sturents. The executive council which has acted as the ir^er-class* rivalry committee has proven itself very efficient and with the experience gained this yeai mterclars rivalry should be very suc cessful next year. The Iasi, outgo means least, accom plishment of this year is the basket ball championship won by the girls team. This is the first time, in many years that a Goqutlje High School Owned by the Seven Oerdirig Brothers girls’ team has won a county cham pionship and the Mchool proud of its team.
