Bauer ln charge of the recruiting office at Grant Paas, and Luther Tingley, his assistant, the Courier I able to publish the following list of men re-mlted through the Grants Pass office, the total number being 195. There are a dosen or more among the commissioned officers and In the naval reserve. Sixteen soldiers and several enlisted men returning home were among the victims. The ship waa convoyed hut the submar ine was not seen. The casualty list Is not yet available. '' .The ship, a former Ward liner, was under convoy by a naval patrol when 'attacked. The submarine waa not seen nor waa the torpedo, All naval and army officers aboard were saved and all but three of the ship's officers, but 11 soldiers out ot 33 aboard were lost.
