Sa bia has it 51 Hugh Mitchell, superintendent of fish hatcheries, visited the Apple gate hatchery and left Thursday for Medford. O. Connor left this morning for Marshfield. Mr. Connor has been working for the Southern Pacific company for the past two weeks. . C. Tillman, an employe of the Southern Pacific company, who has been working here for the past three weeks, left this morning for Al bany. Mrs. F. C. Routledge. of Portland, is visiting with her sister, Miss Maude Barnes, city librarian. She expects to remain for several weeks. New Crepe de chine waists at Mrs. Rehkopfs, , 46tt Mrs. Clarence Wlnetrout went to Portland last night, having received a . wire from Mr. Wlnetrout asking her to meet him there this morning. He was expected home this morning. Mrs. V. B. Swinney returned home this morning after an afbsence of nearly nine months, spent with rela tives. She went to Portland and af ter spending three months went by water to San Diego, spending some months at Orange and Riverside. Mrs. S. L. Devine, ot Spoksne, who hss spent the past three weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Hsrry Starr, left this morning for Albany, where she will visit with friends. Mrs. De vine's husband is pastor of the larg est Presbyterian church of Spokane. Honor Guard Dance Tonight The Girls' Honor Guard is expect ing a big crowd at their 'benefit dance this evening, at the Waldorf. The work the girls contemplate doing to help patriotic efforts, amounts to a good sized task and funds are need ed. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a good time. This company was in Grants Pass last year and gave general satisfaction. There is the merry-go-round, fer rls wheel, the midway, the glass blowers, bands, etc. The Pastor' party Attendants at the mld-m -i k ser vice at Bethany Presbyter'n church are always certain of a helpful meet ing, and the frequent Introduction of timely topics prevent any pos sibility of monotony. The work or canvassing the city was reported upon and plana for continuing the same, perfected. A total paid membership to date of 1H was reported. Very little op position to the work Is encountered but on the other hand there la found much Interest in the formation or classes and the 'beginning of actual work ot prepariug hospital supplies and first aid kits for the men at the front. This work will be undertaken at once. From records kept by II. II. Allyn, we note that total deposits In the three banks May 1, 1915 were 9630,857.34; May 1, 1916 they were, $760,1 13. K and May 1, 1917 tbey were, $970,346. 62.
