From Beaverton. Keguiu Correspondent The Christmas trees on Christ mas Kve were well attended, both churches having all that could com fortably be seated. The cap of Santa Claus at the Congregational tree caught on fire from a candle and for a half minute things looked lively, but the blaze was soon ex tinguished and things moved on in the usual way. Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Morton and son Kdward ot Ilillsboro xtent Christmas w ith Harry Morton and family of this city. Dewit C. Merrill, who has lived for a great many years about two miles south of Reedville, died from Mrs. true D'Atley. Mrs. EflTie d'Atley, well known in HillsWo as the daugnter of the late Charles Stewart, pioneer of 1S43, is reported dead in Montana. She visited relatives in this vicinity last fall, and but recently departed for 'her home. She was compelled to travel by stage through a portion of Idaho, and the vehicle over turned, so severely injuring the! woman that it was necessary to con vey her to a hospital, twenty miles from the scene of the accident. When they arrived where medical aid could be secured she was in a very bad condition and died within a few hours afterward. Karl Morelock, who is attending scnool at 1'aeilic university, is home. Mr. Joseph Ilincley. Maude Ilingley, Hubert Henry and How ard Hingley, Miss Ivddy and Miss McGinty, of Portland, and Mr, Noah Hingley, of Scholls, spent Christmas day with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. lilasser. Mr. and Mrs. RiebhofT, of Port land, spent Christinas with Mr. and Mrs. John Itlew. Miss Nellie Krkkson spent Satur day night with friends in Portland Mr. Geo. Davis's family, of south of Heaverton, have moved onto Mrs. R. J. Fanno's place. The Christmas tree .held in the M.
