W. J. Wall, of Hillsboro, urging the farmers and oth ers to give their aid and support in procuring a creditable exhibit for the coming state fair and the Lewis and Clark Exposition, all of which I heart ily endorse. And if we are to have a display worthy of our country it is full time to begin our work, as the season for planting will soon be past. But how shall we get the people interested in the work? I suggest by agitation. Let our doctors, lawyers, merchants, bankers, farmers and every one quit talking politics one week and talk of the 1905 Exposition. We have a large number of well organized Granges in this county. Why not dis cuss this question at your next meet ing, brother patrons, and insist that each member make an effort to pro duce something which will help along the good work? Nearly all of our merchants and professional men have a good garden spot; a splendid place to raise some choice vegetable or fruit. Try it gentlemen. Let us make a “ long pull, a strong pull and a pull to gether,” and again the banner of vic tory shall wave over our exhibit at the state fair and Washington county pro ducts shall be the pride of the state at Portland, 1905.
