Mr. and Mrs. John Caples had a lucky escape from accident a week ago today while coming home from Tillamook. As they were driving around a very sharp tufn just this side the summit, the horse did not answer the bit quickly enough and went off the grade. The occupants saw what was coming and jumped out on the road safely but the rig went down straight for eight feet and rolled thirty more. The buggy was found upside down with the horse still fastened to it but twisted in the harness so that his head was toward the carriage. Mr. and Mrs. Caples took the buggy apart and got it up to the road, hitched their horse and were just ready to start before any one else came along. M. Taylor.
