CLACKAMAS COUNTY NEWS, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER ID. 1Û2D P\GE SIX t - - i W ISE W IFE KNOWS HOW TO HOLD HUBBY'S LOVE A wise wife is a woman who re fuse» to allow another woman to pos sess herself o f her husband without fighting to retain his love. This is the impression one gets when one sees the fine De Mille pic ture production “ The Wise W ife,” which is to be shown at the Liberty, Estacada, Wednesday. The featured players are Phyllis Haver, Tom Moore, Jacqueline Logan and Joseph Striker. Miss Haver is the wife, Mr. Moore the husband, Miss Logan the flapper who intrigues the husband, while Mr. Striker, the fiance of the flapper, is the innocent tool em ployed by the wise wife in accom plishing her purpose. Helen Blaisdell is a plain home living wife who loves her husband devotedly. Comes a southern girl of the flapper. type to visit them and instantly Blaisdell falls in love with her. The gossips get busy and when Mrs. Blaisdell learns the truth, she decides to play a bold game in order to retain her husband’s affections. She tells her husband and the flap per that they must prove themselves really in love with each other before she consents to a divorce. She ap points the flapper as her husband’s custodian and to care for him just as she herself would do. Then she develops into a modern flapper herself and when the fiance o f the southern girl arrives on the scene, the wife pretends to make lova to him with the result that her hus band’s jealousy is aroused. Many in teresting developments then occur, the most important being the return of the husband to his wife uhd the flapper to her fiance. The story has been finely handled by E. Mason Hopper, an expert di rector of polite comedies. It was written by Arthur Somers Roche and adapted by Zelda Sears and Tay Garnett. SANDY LOCAL ITEMS Mr. and Mrs. A. C.
