A number of the friends of Mr. and Mrs. Alex McQuovvn of Garfield, assembled at their home Wednesday afternoon, April 6, as they are about to leave for Baker county. Those present were, Mesdames E. J. Yocum, Archie Yocum and daughter, L. J. Palmateer, H. D. Trapp, M. Rix, N. M. Tracy, John Hulm, Annie Johnson, Clema Crawford, Julia Califf, Charlie Califf, Tom Beebe, Misses Hermina Zipple, Marie Adlon and Lavina Crawford. Light refreshments of sandwiches, cake and coffee were served and all expressed their regret at los ing these estimable people. Estacada Lodge of Masons has this week completed the purchase from M. J. Kerkes of the two lots on Broadway, on which they expect eventually to erect a mod ern business building with lodge rooms upstairs. The lots are the one now occupied by the butcher shop and the one immediately south thereof, including a half interest in the party wall of the Dale store building. The Oregon Estacada Cattle Growers' Association held a meeting in the Garfield Grange hall April 2, and elected officers: President, R. E. Davis. Anyone running cattle on the national forest, can join the same by writing to R. E. Davis, Estaca da. All cattle men should join, as the association passes upon the breed of bulls to run on the range. The forest service has com menced opening up the trail and repairing the telephone line for the coming season. Trail signs are being placed at all forks of the trail, giving mileage to next place.
