P~go E: ó r % li i. A «V . » Thursday February 5, 1920 CLA CK AM AS NEWS HOW I ESTABLISHED A $20,000 BUSINESS ON $«00. MQNüi HH public find you are alive to the situ ation they will say well that fellow is all right, guess we will see what he has to offer. In many ways we are to bairie for the success of the mail order house. The Department Store. The large department store in the cities have the same effect. This competition is very keen with us. Every day we hear our customers say, “ Well that is very nice but think I will wait until I get down town, I may get it cheaper,” when in reality it is the extensive stocks that draw them and not the prices. Frequent ly we find them coining back after a weary day shopping and saying, “ Why your ginghams are cheaper here than down town.” We knew this all the time but it was not good form to tell them, so we let them find It out We intend if possible to be cheaper in price than the city stores. We can afford to be and it fs not a difficult matter to match their prices. But still the big stores have a wonderful drawing power and the principle caufee of their success is advertising. They depend upon their big page ad. to bring the business and it does. sS m “ Shubert” w l!I p a y these extrem ely rl?l t X I H A l A f t b t j N -l L A R G E IXTRA TO AVI » A C t 1 tXTI»A ¡O AV E MAO f * N «l M E D IU M «»T.IATB A Y . , A C .
