t Escaped Convicts Reported Near Estacada Are A little excitement was engen dered last Saturday noon, when Sheriff Wilson and deputies of Oregon City stopped in Estpcada for lunch, on their wav o Beaver Creek Canyon, whe- e it was re ported some of the convicts who escaped from the Sdem peniten tiary were in hiding. City Marshal John Faye at once considered heading a posse to aid in the search but after pol ishing his star and borrowing the editor's shot yun (which he never had returned from the last time he borrowed it) was unable to yet sufficient followers to join in the man hunt. These Are Bargains! Building A Catholic Chapel During the course of the ser vices held at the F. J. Harken- rider hojrie in Estacada last Sun day by Rev. Father Hoyan of Portland, plans were considered for the building of a Catholic Chapel in this community. Miller and Mrs. Robert Miller. Mrs. Henry Reimer has been on the sick list for the past week, and her mother, whose home is in Canby, has been staying with her. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Linn of Up per Garfield were callers in this neighborhood Sunday. Adolph Wiederhold is spending several weeks at Yacolt. Wash. Roy Maxwell motored out from Portland Sunday and spent the day on his ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Miller and t daughter Gladys and Mr. and Mrs. Yates of Portland were din ner guests Sundayat the A. H. Miller home. Noah Stingley of Eagle Creek was a caller at the Peter Rath home on Sunday. Will Widmer of Sandy Ridge visited his sister, Mrs. Leo Rath on Saturday. Mrs. A. Wiederhold and chil dren of Bissell ar^ now living in Portland, where Mr. Wiederhold is employed.
