E. H. S. Echoes Contributed The work on the play-shed, due to lack of laborers, is progressing rather slowly; but under the careful direction of Mr. Under wood, the boys expect to com plete it this week. We have not heard anything from Mr. Baker’s hat lately, but, judging from disappearances, several objects of school property have gone to hunt it. If you want to know anything about the feel of a fresh pompa dour, ask Clyde Denny. Accord ing to a petitition, which was drifting about the assembly hali last week, Clyde is very anxious to receive the “love and honor’’ which the girls promise to bestow upon him, providing he forfeit certain portions of his chief charm, his hair. Although an epidemic of La Grippe is invading the town, no great increase of absence is noticeable in the high school. The debate “try out” which occurred in the assembly hall on Friday the 14th, proved both beneficial and interesting. Those chosen on the debating team for this year were Lewis Jones, Ruby McWillis, Joe Demoy, Philip Adams, Lloyd Saling and John Schenk. The first affair will take place at Cogswell’s Hall in Eagle Creek next Saturday evening, the 23rd, and a crowd of the Estacada young people are planning to join with the Eagle Creek dancers for that night. As banjo music for the step dances and violin for the waltzes is promised, a good time is assured. On Christmas night, the 25th, at the Estacada Pavilion, the yearly Christmas Dance of the C. I. Saturday, December30th, will be the Eigth Annual Ball, under the auspices of the Estacada Volun teer Fire Department. This af fair is always the popular attra- tion of the winter season and not less than one-hundred couples are expected to join in the Grand March, as many young folks from Portland and nearby sections are planning to participate. The public is cordially invited to all these affairs, and as there is plenty of time for rest and recuperation between, a big at- tendence is expected at all three dances. Mrs. E. F.
