In 1907 forest fires in the United States destroyed $31,589 worth of timber, and in 1905, $101,282 worth of timber. The forest ranger is do ing something for his country. Pal. It closely resembles the Logan ber ry in looks, but is more meaty, has a milder taste, and is a smoother berry. Mr. Holder, who is going into the fruit growing business to considerable extent, has a number of bushes of the Phenomenal which are yielding quite good. Oregon City’s High School A news item in Monday’s Ore gonian says: “ Education has taken u long step forward in Oregon City, this year and for the first time a 4- grade high school will be main tained, commencing at'the opening of the Fall term on Sept. 21.” Two assistants have been provided Prof. McKee who will teach the sciences.
