Mayfield. died last night in this city at 1225 Jackson street, after a lingering illness. She is survived by her husband, one son, Wayne Spoor, and a granddaughter Ramona Spoor. Surviving also, is her mother, Mrs. Lily B. Austin of Molall, Ore., four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Vandetta and Mrs. Dora Yancey of Portland, Mrs. Ona Brogles of Molalla, Mrs. Sibyl McMillin of Wasco, and one brother, C. Ray Austin of Molalla. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Zell funeral home at 3 o'clock with Rev. H. L. Ford, officiating. Interment will beat Wamic, Friday morn ing at 11. Chronicle 19th. It was a misnomer, it should of been the "Broken reel". Dudly Weisbeck was a Dufur visitor Sunday. H. A. Muller was a Dalles business visitor Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Morrow were callers in Maupin Monday. W. Stillwell and C.J.VanDuyn have their automatic electric plants installed and buildings wired and the lights going are giving excellent satisfaction so far. The dance given after the show Saturday night was not very well attended. One of Bill Hart's pictures will be shown here Saturday evening the 29th. Mr. and Mrs. Lofton spent Suuday here with their daughter Mrs. G. I. Derthick. Housty Johnson who has been taking medical treatment at Dufur the past two weeks spent Sunday at home and returned to Dufur Monday morning. Barney Allen, now mayor of Kingsley was renewing acquaint ances here last week. The teapot oil scandal will fur nish plenty of political mud for the candidates to throw at one another during the coming cam paign, if it don't amount to any thing else. Logan Bros, who have been subbing on the highway here the past year have moved their equipment to Shaniko where they will work this season. Mrs. Sam Wall and children visited with Mrs. Alice Chappel last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Flinn re turned to Warmsprings Sunday. Nathan Hill come over from Warm Springs Saturday and re turned Sunday. Perle Evick is on the sick list. Smock News Farmers are busy plowing for summer fallow. Callie Duncan and Mao May field made a business trip to Maupin on Monday. Willis Farlow spent Saturday and Sunday at the Deschutes ranch. Mrs. JohrFAyres and family were Sunsay visitors at Mrs. E. H. Disbrow's. Orin Farlow traded cows for a team of horses with Mac May field. Harold Retherforu of Juniper Flat came over to C. Duncans to buy some cows on Saturday. Edward Disbrow was a Tygh visitor on Tuesday. L. J. Root accompanied him enroute to The Dalles. F. T. Feltch went to Maupin on Monday for a load of sulphur. The occasion was a St- Patrick's Party. Rev. Parker and family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs Roy Ward Sunday. Virginia DeMent who has been visiting her sitter Helen at the Frank Batty home returned to her home at Myrtle Creek Tues day. The Parkers were in Maupin Monday. Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Matthews visited at the parsonage Monday John Charles is improving his property with a new picket fence Josephine O'Brien is expected home this week for a few days vacation. At a spelling contest recently held at O. A. C. in which 1,000 students took part, Miss O'Brien won first place. Mrs. O. P. Weberg and daugh ters were up from Maupin Sunday. Manpin Exchange Mr. and Mrs. Wm Beckwith have bought out the interests of the Maupin Switch board com pany, the deal having been made the 17th of this month. Here after Maupin telephone business will be transacted under the name of Maupin Exchange. It is announced that after April 1st all day service will be given on Sundays, and if the rural lines are kept up in proper condition, good service is assured Mr. and Mrs. Beckwith have had several years of telephone experience and we believe they will continue to give the same prompt service that they have endeavored to do in the past. at the George Claomier home.
