Shannon of Tygh Valley Wafco county loses one of its must hon orable and highly esteemed citizens Dr. Shannon came to Wasco county in Kill, first locating in The Dalles, afterward taking over Dr. Elwood's practise at Tygh Valley. Although a young man and of few years' experience the doctor showed great ability in Hie prac tise ot medicine anu Ins Inisiinw methods and genial ways marie iminy friends among the people with whom he associated. Dr. Sbanuou'a failure in health started during the influenza epi demic in 1918, and although he has teneded to his practise duiing this time his health has gradually failed him until, the last. ' Dr. Shannon died at his home in Tygh Valley June 28th. Fu neral services under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge were held 'at , . Crandall Undertaking I parlors at The Dalles, Wednesday afternoon, June 80lh. The burial took place in Odd Fellow's ceme tery. The casket and grave were covered with beautiful floral offer ings from f i iends of the deceaped. The Doctor leaves a widow, a Base Ball The Man pin ball boys won the game over the Redmond team at Redmond I;it Sunday in a score of 7 to 1. All the boys played a good game throughout only one error being made , during the entire game. Koy Morrow s pitching was exceptionally good. Every one who made the trip had a good time and were well treated bv the Redmond people. The next came will be with Prineville July 4th. Ilis early departure is mourned by bis devoted parents and brotheis aud sisters, besides many schoolmates aud frieuds, for to know Virgil was to love him. She leaves four sons Thomas, Marion, John and Ohar les, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The com munity is saddened by her death. Grain is in excellent condition here. Pleasant Birthday Most interesting was the affair given Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. George Woodruff of Mt. Hood struct, gavo a dinner in honor of Mrs. Katherino Morrison her 79th birthday, Mrs. Morris, affection ately known as Grandma Morris has lived at Tygh Valley for many years and is one of Oregon's true pioneers. She came to The Dalles in'the early sixties, when the city was a tiny hamlet and for a long time lived three miles south of the city. Mrs. Morris crossed the plains with her father aud mother in 1852. Khe is one of the best known women at Tygh Valley and well loved for hci kindliness, gen erosity and hih ideals.
