Ownership of Raiiroads, The Proposed League of Nations, Capital Punishment, and othei current questions which are dis cussed by the leading citizens of the town and community. Wamic has a church which is also progressive with a thriving Sunday school, all services being conducted on a broad business-like sensible basis to which every citi zen is made to feel at home in worship. Besides these tho people join in many other social features creating friendship and coopera tion which is indeed attractive. If any reader of this epistle is not enjoying health, wealth and the pursuit of happiness couio to Wamic. Driver was a visitor here from Juniper Flat the latter part of last week, spending several days with relatives. Dick Stakely shot a big cougar from a tree. shooting across White river near the crossing. He killed it Tuesday. Dr. Eiwood was called here Fri day to attend S. B. Driver, The doctor had a thrilling trip, coming by way of the White river crossing He encountered much mud, snow and rocks in the roads on the grades. It took him five hours to reach this place after leaving Maupin. Mr. Driver has improv ed some. A good program was rendered at the Literary society Friday night. Much interest was taken in the debate which followed. Tom Driver went to Maupin yesterday to get medicine for Mrs. Lena Woodcock who was very ill. She is improved some today. A call was made for the doctor but serious cases detained him on Juniper Flat. Mrs. Nan Woodcock has an at tack of facial neuralgia. Warm weather here the past few days has caused the melting of most of the snow and brought about the blooming of buttercups on the hillsides. However much snow is still on the ground in he canyons and shaded places. A drop in the temperature last night caused heavy freezing of ice. Miss Crystal Pratt took up school in the Pine Groye district Monday. She is boarding with Mrs. Laura Savage. Lester Grabtree and Ellis Dough ton were over from Juniper Friday attending the Literary. The Southern Wasco County Fair Association held a special meeting at Tygh yesterday after noon. Soloinan Hauser was elect eo. president to nil tne vacancy made by A. A. Bonney. K. L. Flauser was chosen director in Soloman's place. Secretary F. A. Morrow attended from this place. Raymon Doering of Tygh Val ley will arrive home this evening, coming from an eastern camp. Sammy Douglas passed through Hood River yesterday enroute from France to Camp Lewis. A letter from Carl Pratt to his wife announced that he anticipat ed sailing from France soon Rev. G. E. Wood and Vernon Xoival will be cutting firewood ood, having purchased a woodtaw Vernon Noryal went to The Dalles today. Eugene Pratt is putting up snow in sawdust todav for sum- mer use. Mrs. J. R.
