Special to Times
Nestled among the pine clad
hills of east-central Oregon lies a
spot most dear to many pioneer of
this thriving porgressive common
wealth. In the early days when
immigrants came by way of the
plains with ox teams, great cara
vans after many an exciting en
counter with hostile Indidns, these
pilgrims of the west found settle
ment to their liking throughout
th territory of the great north
west. Among these many sojourn
ers to luis western haven came
one Lne Wamic settling at the
spot which bears his name to this'
day.. Since settlement by this
and other pioneers many have
joined in the peaceful pursuit of
happiness and wealth. The offer
ings of this part of our domain
are many in lines of health rs
man has never been blesBed with
more beautiful and attractive
climate, the prodvetiveness of ti e
soil of wheat and coarse grains is
second to none. The grazing op
portunities for stock is unlimited
as the range lying under the
shadow of the majestic Mt. Hood
cannot be surpassed.
In common approach by rail U
Wamic you leave the train at
ooint where the waters from the
inland water sheds wends its way
into the turbulant rushing waters
of the rock ribbed shores of tin
Deschutes. You go in a north
westerly direction for some miles,
you are delighted more and more
with, your adventure until your
enthusiasm is complete in the fact
of nature's erandeur as you are
permitted to see it at Wamic.
Then Wamic is attractive be
cause ot Us many patrotic a net
pioneer citizens such citizens as
the Drivers, Woodcocks, Norval",
Kennedys, Lakes, Pratls and Ma
gills, also many other of like
caliber are an asset to any country
Wamic is most progressive in
her schools. The people of the
community meet each week at the
school house and besides rendering
splendid literary program they
have debates on sucli subjects as
Gov't. Ownership of Raiiroads,
The Proposed League of Nations,
Capital Punishment, and othei
current questions which are dis
cussed by the leading citizens of
the town and community.
Wamic has a church which is
also progressive with a thriving
Sunday school, all services being
conducted on a broad business-like
sensible basis to which every citi
zen is made to feel at home in
worship. Besides these tho people
join in many other social features
creating friendship and coopera
tion which is indeed attractive.
If any reader of this epistle is
not enjoying health, wealth and
the pursuit of happiness couio to
Wamic. It will beat Taimlac or

fortune has oast upon you.
Yours for success,
