One room holds four long tables that will each seat ten persons comfortably at work, and here the game work is done. Another room is used on certain days us a kindergarten for the children whose mothers may be at work in adjoining rooms. There are three machines, one an electric, and an electric iron, and all sorts oi articles that could be needed around a hospital are made sheets, pillow-slips, towpls, pajamas, etc, All scraps are put to u e. Of the larger pieces quilt blocks are cut, the nest size make gun wipes, mid from the tiny scraps 'feathers' for making small pillows used on the stretchers are made. The hospital supplies are watch ed by women who understand all the -necessary 'kinks' of which there sr-eni a good many to the uninitiated; counted by three women at a table in a room of the ofiioe, tied in bundles holding just so many of each particular kind, packed in boxes of prescribed di- mentions, everything according to specifications of National head quarters governing all chapters. All work must pass a rigid ex amination,. In the office several women sit day after day parsing on the knitted work brought or sent in. Minor defects are reme died, such "9 adjusting the 'necks of sweaters, seeing that the tops of socks, are not too small, or darn ing holey left by inexperienced hands, and sometimes returning the garment to be made nver. All the time the cry is for more workers to do the ever increasing amount of work that '13 called for from National headquarters. Are we all 'doing our bit?' Contributed Pine Grow (last week) The Pine Grove S. S. took up an offering instead of the regular collection and sent same to the Seriah and Armenian Relief Com mission in New York. Four hun dred thousand orphans are in great danger of starving when $.17 in American muney will save a life for a few days. The S. A treasurer's repoit showed that the school had raised and paid out for supplies, home missiens, for eign . missions, special ; meetings, literature, etc., about $100. The -old olliciers were re-elected. Mr. Sherrard, head forester of Portland, was present at the meeting and was a guest at the Graham home Satur day night. Mr, Graham took him to meet the train Sunday. Wapinitia school district No. 40 is now au organized Junior Red Cross, being the second .school in the county to send in the funds required. Josie O'Brien, Crystal Hartman, Johnie Tapp, Nichalson O'Brien, Sophia Tapp, Sylvia Holloman and Lloyd Woodside have each sold $50 worth of War Savings Stamps and are among the first ten in the state to become mem bers of the Junior Rainbow Regi ment.
