ROSEBURG, Ore., Dec. 7. A tailoring shop, owned by J. H. Bernier was badly damaged late last night by a fire started to cover uv a robbery. Thieves broke down the rear door of the building and with an auger bored notes around the locks of intervening doors, so that they could reach the front part of the building, where they stole five suits of-clothes and 19 suit lengths of bolt goods. Boxes of trimmings, kindling and papers were then piled up In two parts of the frame building and a fire started. Fortunately, however, the blaze was quickly discovered and extinguished before any great amount of damage was 'done. - Tracks found in tho nlleyway In the rear of the building Indicated that there had been two automo biles backed up to tho shop. A few minutes before tho fire, two cars wero seen to come out of tho nlleyway and go south at a rapid rate of speed.
