He was always ready to respond to tho call of the sick whether they wero affluent or in humble financial circumstances. He was a member of the Lane Count v Medical society from tho time of Us origin and was elected to tho presidency or this organiza tinn five times. M., of which he. was past master; Kugene chapter No. 10 It. A. M.; Ivnnhoe commandry Xo. 2 K. T.: Oregon consistory A. & A. S. K., and Al Kader Temple, of the Mvst c Shrine. Jie was member of the Eugene Klks lodge Xo. 307. He was also a member of the Christian church. In poll tics ho was a Republican. From 1899 to 1901 he was mayor of the nitv nf Kiiirone.
