To acquaint the people of .Eugene iriih the railroad construction work on the Natron cut-off, the fine timber resources of the Ouk ridge region-t, gud the big mill of the Western Lum ber company at West fir, three miles jlow the town. The festivity will open in Eugene gaturdiy morning, when a host of Oakriiige citizens, dressed in appro priate "wild west," costumes, with huge "rodeo" hats, will lead u parade to the Southern Pacific dppot, whfie ill will embark on special t ruins. These trains will be run ot regular in ternals until ever j one is accommodat ed, it is announced. Parade Is Planned. Arriving at Onkridge, a grand pa rade, with floats of various kinds, will tike place. Mayor E. B. Parks, of Eu gene. Sheriff Frank E. Taylor. L. AV. Teate, president of the Oakridgc chamber of commerce, and other of-, ficers of various civic organization , j jll decked out in western costume, will be mounted tn horses at the head of the procession. Following them will come Itnck Pearson, of Klama'h Falls, with his string of unconquer able bucking horses, and the entire delegation, in cars and afoot, is ex pected to be in line, A feature of the first day will be the rodeo, for which a purse of $"1HV is posted to be divided among the cowboys who can cling longest to the Pearson prize mounts. Game Is Scheduled. Unsfball games each afternoon, iritii the Oakridge nine mcetiug two ot" the crack teams of the volley', will take place. The S. Carfare Hearings Held at Portland Auto Driver Fined For Crossing Line TUItRISm nr;. Ore.. June 24. (Special) An Oakridge business man piid the city coffers $'2o Saturday afternoon for a little amusement and n volley of swearing. As he drove into town he insisted upon running off the road and over one of the cables by which Charles Hupp is moving his residence about. Hupp aAed him to keep off tf ml avoid the other cable. The man drove a short distance, re turned and drove his car over the other cable. Hupp hunted up the mar shal and then the visitor with the car. His rabble running cost him Whereupon the man loosened a vol ley of oaths1. "That man tfught to hp fined again," said Hupp. "Are you willing to swear out a warrant?" queried the mirshal. The man from Oakridge was soon handing over $10 more to the marshal. rOKTLANO, Ore., June 24. The ! petition for five cent car fare, filed ' three years ago with the public Rer-! vice commission by the housewives council, came up for hearing today. The carfare in Portland has been 8 cents since lil'0. Mrs. Josephing Othus. president of ; the Housewives' council, requested ; the reading of the three-year-old torn- ! plaint. ) "Three years is a lnng time," she I said, "between the filing of a coin- ! plaint and the hearing on it. The data ! gathered then are out of date. We had i an attorney then, but' hive none i now; we are throwing ourselves on the mercy of the commission."
