Andrews, as sistant secretary of the treasury, ia especially in charge of the job of dry ing up the country. With a reputation for strenuousity much like that of General ISinedley D. Hutler of tbe marine corps, who has been fighting the sole of liquor in Philadelphia, it is believed thut An drews will put booze into discard, if, any one, can. Andrews is a "West Pointer, who spent most of his army life as n cavalryman and served as deputy provost marshal gcneritl at American C. H. With the const guard the generwl will endeavor to stop the landing of liquor on the shores of the United States. Custom service officials will try to prevent smuggling across the Cana dian and Mexican borders. Prohibition units will seek to break up moonshining and ilticit withdrawals from liquor warehouses. UP) A law suit concerning a large tract of stand ing timber which was begun 300 years ago has been settled, it was announc ed recently. As a result of a compromise, part of tbe forest acreage is to be sold' for the benefit of the Kuthenian peas ants of the district, while some 4.000 acres ore awarded to the Schoenborn heirs Who have been fighting the case through the various courts alt these years.
