William S Levees, state prohibition commis loner, today announced the appoint ment ol four state prohibition agents j who will operate out ol ma orp.r-.-ment. . The four are II. D. Carter, Dan M. Jonea, A. McFarlane and William T. Duckworth. Carter waa formerly a deputy United States marshal anil eerred two terms aa mayor of Halter. Jonea waa formerly a guard at the Waahtngton atata penitentiary and has made hie home in Walla Walla an din Baker. McFarlane and Duck worth are both Portland men, the lat ter having aerved on the Portland po lice force. He waa recommended to Lerena by Portland police officers and Portland circuit judgea. Mr. Levena will ahortly make a trip bout the atate to confer with abenfta and district attorneya relative to pro hibitioifwork. Later he expecta to call all of bia men to Salem for a period of inatruction. It is pointed out to local bust- dm men by the committee members that the pageant will bring thousands of people in from all parts of Lane county and that from a community viewpoint the event looms as large as many state conventions that have been held here.
