(jir: l'ermit me to publish the fol loiring explanation, my pleasant friends were stonished to learn that Uraia Verigin, nephew of the late Peter Verigin has been arrested at Hsrrisburg, Oregon, ns given out by the Oregon papers. Not knowing that Here is jnother person by the same time. I wish to ssy to the good citizens thit there are two Larion Verigins under same name and surname. The person who has been convicted ia an unorganized independent Doukhobor whole full name is Larion John Verc io. while my name is Larion William Veregin, and in my opinion the guilty person should be punished to the full eitent of the law. This L. J. veregin has acquired molt corruptive principles of a bad Canadian- who smokes, drinks, and eats meat as food, which contradicts with the Dukobor belief. I am a member of the Doukhobor society known as the Christian Com munity of Universal Brotherhood Ltd. and hold the fair reputation amongtit the Canadian people, and further wish to add thnt I have never been arrested in my life.
