Although it came na a surprise to the county court and a greater surprise to Assessor Herbert Walker, who hns the school tax levy already entered on faia rolls, members of tho school budget committee say they were awnre of it nil the time. School Clerk O. H. Jones says the matter was explained to tlio school taxpayers at the budget meeting. . Under the law, if the school levying board foils to provido the necessary mon ey to tako cure of bonded indebtedness, the county treasurer shall notify the eouutycourt who uuist make the levy. Mlas Edna Ward, county treasurer, -proceeded to do this this morning. While Judge Ilamard Is In Balem Com missioner M. II. Ifarlow said tunt prob ably the court would hold a meeting to morrow morning before tho taxpayers' meeting and fix the levy. In the mean time. Assessor Walkers force will do a "powerful lot" of erasing. A levy of $81)00 is required to take car of the interest on the bonded in- debtedness and $5000 for the sinking fund. The school board and the county court both forgot to make the levy last year and the Kchool directors had to take the nionoy out of other schpol, funds.
