THK KOCK-A-BY LADY The rock-a-by, Lady from Hushaby street Comes stealing, comes creeping; The popples they hang their head to their reel And each hath a dream that Is tiny and fleet She brlngeth her popples to you, my Bweet. When she flndelh you sleeping! There Is one little dream of a beautiful drum "Rub-a-dub" It goeth; There Is one little dream of a big sugar plum. And so, thick and fast, the other dreams come, Of pop-guns thut bang and tin tops that hum, And a trumpet that bloweth And dollies peep out of their wee little dreams With laughter and singing; And boats go a-flatlng on Bllvery streams And the stars peek-a-boo with their own misty gleams And up! up and up. where the Mother Moon beams. The fairies go winging. Would you dream all these dreams tiny and fleet? They'll come to you sleeping; So shut the two eyes that are weary, my sweet, For the Rock-a-by Uidy from Hushaby street. With popples that hang from her head to her reel, I. Comes stealing, comes creeping. Then a twenty-mile stub road was built connecting with the main line, which was and is still their only steam railway. The town was surrounded for nun dreds of milosV sage brush deserts, and had but one commer clal advance to build its future uponthat of being the capital of a new.and sparsely settled state. But the people there had learned their lesson from the loss of the Oregon Short line through lack of the proper public spirit. They determined to overcome aU obstacles and build up a city. How well they have succeeded is demonstrated by the fact that the town, which had a population of less than 6000 when the fed eral census of 1900 was taken, is now a beautiful city of 25,000 people, with one million dollars' worth of buildings under con struction this year, including a seven-story hotel which will be one of the finest in the Northwest. ' Boise owes nearly all of its growth and prosperity to the en terpriso of its people. They not only erected fine homes and bus iness buildings, paved streets and laid cement walks, but they built electric railways down the irrigated valleys to the towns .u. ci.-- Tin nnrl thua extended the area of their retail trade. Local capital built one of these roads, twenty miles long, without the assistance of a dollar of outside inonev, and local men began and promoted another thirty miles in length. It was this faith in their city and willingness to back its enterprises fi najiclally which made Boise the city it is today and overcame the many obstacles that would have dscouraged less determined communities. ... Eugene has every natural advantage and should outgrow a city like Boise with only reasonable effort on the part of the people. All that is required is for the local capitalists to stand back of every movement that promises to increase business and draw trade from a larger area of territory. The proposod Sius law railroad is one of theBe. It means a large and increasing revenue to our merchants and increased values to property own ers. But it will never be built unless the people of Eugene want it badly enough to put their money Into it, and convince foreign capital of their faith in investments tending to develop the conn-try. It may be a stomach nerve, or it may have given strength and support to the heart or kidneys. It was Dr. Shoop that first pointed to nils vital truth. Dr. Shoop's Re storative was not made to dose the stomach -nor to temporarily stimu late the heart or kidneys. That old fashioned method is all wrong. Dr. Shoop's Restorative goes directly to these falling Inside nerves. The re markable success oi mis pibsuihi tlon demonstrates the wisdom of treating the actual cause of these failing organs.
