Gover nor Haskell has issued a proclama tion declaring that the state dispen sary system had been abolished by the vote at tne - recent election, which leaves the citlgens of Oklaho ma without any lawful means to pur chase the state liquor for medicinal purposes. This situation win con tinue until the people or the legisla ture provide some scheme for the sale of liquor for medicinal purposes. Governor Haskell win leave to tne courts the question of whether or not the law permitting the sale of alcohol for scientific purposes and denatured alcohol for industrial purposes and establishing a depositary for confis cated liquors was repealed. If not. the office of state dispensary super intendent, held by R. E. Lozier, will be continued for the purpose named. The majority against the dispensary was 16,000. ARCHBISHOP MOELLER'S BIRTHDAY OBSERVED Cincinnati, Dec. 11. The Most Reverend Henry Moeller, archbishop of the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Cincinnati, entered upon his sixtieth year today and was the recipient of numerous congratulations from the prelates and priests or his province and from many members of the laity. Archbishop Moeller is a native of Cincinnati, and received his early education in the parish schools of this city. Believing his vocation to be the priesthood, he made arrange ments to pursue divinity studies. Ac cordingly he went to Rome and be came one of the first to enter tne fa mous American college. In 1876 he was ordained to the priesthood by Aigr. Lentl in. the church of St. John Latc-ran, the cuthedral church of Rome. W hen the young priest re turned to America, Archbishop Pur- cell 6 ive him charge of St. Patrick's church, Bellefontaine, but a few months later, recognizing bis scholar ly 'attainments, made him a member of the faculty of St. Mary's Seminary ALBANY CARLINE ALMOST COMPLETE Albany, Or., Dec. 10. Work on Albany's new electric line is progress ing rapidly, ana yesterday the crews began stringing trolley wires on First street, which will continue un til the line is in condition to receive the new electric car to be placed on the run between the depot and the St. unarics Hotel. Only about fou blocks of track remain to be laid. About 25 men are changing the old horse car system Into a modern elec tric line. The passing of the old norsa car is a matter of much satis faction to the citizens. Immediate ly after work on the electric line has been completed, paving First street win be begun.
