1HB EUGENE DAttif tOSMM. MOXDAV, K6VMBt2fi 8, i08'. o The combination !of healthful vegetable ingredients of which S. S. S. is composed, makes it an especially desirable and effective remedy in the treat ment of sores and ulcers of every kind. Since an impure condition of the blood is responsible for the trouble, a medicine that can purify tl"t blood is the only hope of a successful cure; anu it should be a medicine that not only cleanses the circulation, but one that at the same time restores the blood to its normal, rich, nutritive tondition. S. S. S. is-lust such a remty. It is made entirely of healing, cleansing vegetable properties, extracted from na ture's roots, herbs and barks of the forest and fields. It has long been recognized as the greatest of all blood purifiers, possessing the qualities necessary to remove everv impurity fti the blood. When S. S. S. has purified the circulation, and strengthened and enriched it, sores and ulcers heal read ily and surely, because they are no longer fed and kept open by a continual dischargeintothem of irritating disease-laden matterfrom the blood. S. S. S. brings about a healthy condition of the flesh by supplying it with rich, nourishing blood and makes a permanent and lasting cure. N29 SALEM CLEARLY OUTPLAYED EUGENE IN SATURDAY'S GAME Local Football Team Seemed to Lack the Spirit that Has Characterized it in Other Contests Saturday at Salem the Eugene high school met Its first football de feat for the year when its team play ed rhat of Salem. The Eugene team In the first half was clearly outplay ed, the half being played wholly In Eugene's territory. Once or twice the Eugene boys seemed to rally, but not once in this half did they have an opportunity to score. The local team lacked the snap and vim which they have shown in previous games. Their attacks would seem to melt as they hit their 'opponent's line. In the second half, however, the Eugene boys seemed to rally and once they worked, by successive end runs by Preston and Bailey, to the five-yard line. Here they lost the ball on yardage, and Salem immediately punted out of danger. This was the only time Salem's goal was endan gered. Throughout the game Eugene's punting was exceptionally good. Sa lem worked the forward pass to ad vantage several times. Eugene, as a whole, lost by that play. There were several raw decisions on the part of the referee, but as a whole the game was especially clean. Salem's star was Parsons, who repeatedly made yardage by end runs. Krelger played as consistent a game as any one for Eugene. The field was soft and slip pery. It was admitted by Salem that Eugene had more of her students on tho field than their own school. The Eugene rooters showed the result of their training and yelled consist ently. Salem's yelling was done al most wholly by the girls, and showed no training whatever. After the game Eugene's rooters showed them selves grand losers by forming a big serpontlne, marching down the main street and giving their own and Sa lem's yells. Tho behavior of the Eu gene students while In Salem created favorable comment. After the game a reception fitted to the limited time Eugene had in tho evening was tendered to the vis itors: The Snloni students tried to show their guests n good time. The row dyism shown ut one time was only on the part of a few Salem toughs and very much regretted by the stu dents ns a whole. Owing to n misunderstanding as to where to get on their own cars about twenty of the Eugene rooters were left In Salem Saturday evening. They took the eariy morning truln home.
