Everybody In the Camp bell-Fellinan leatn connected with the hall and ut the end of the game the score stood 14 to 7 In favor of the home team, The localB presented the best team ever shown on the home grounds. Kvery man Is a ball player from the ground up and there la but little doubt that Kogene will carry off the pennant again this season. In the stick work Eugene has a regular line of sluggers. Ilalsey tried but three pitchers, but they were all the same kind of meat for the homo boys, who kepi a scorching path around the stations. Eugene's new men. Mead, Clifford, Moon and Springer, are a faxt bunch of expe rienced ball players and deliver the goods. Harper, of Eugene, knocked out a three-bagger and a two-bagger and did some effective fielding work. In the end of the ninth Inning I.eabo pulled down a fly that was apparently good for three bags, out" of' the sky nenr the centre field fence after a I long run. Watch the Campbell-Fell- man team reach the top of tho per centage column soon. Next Sunday the team will play the Chicago ladles' team. The East Eugene Improvement Club met Saturday evening and dis cussed the question of watering the trees planted In the streets last win ter. The club unanimously decided j mat me wees a'c " lco1 ..tu attention. Many of the residents of this district have cultivated and watered the trees in front of their property and as a result theBe trees are growing nicely, while those ad jacent to the property of non-residents are dying from neglect. After an exhaustive -discussion, it was de cided that the only thing the club can do in the premises is to urge owners of property to give, atten tion to their trees aUonce. -A few buckets of water applied during the present heated term will carry these beautiful trees through the season, and preserve them as lasting monu ments of beauty, while Continued neglect will result in the loss of the trees and all the money expended for their cost and planting. Personal Interest ought to prompt every prop-j erty owner to get busy now while the need is urgent. ! few days more will be too late. i The club also discussed at length the question of holding an Ice cream festival under the oaks at the car ter minal and fixed Thursday evening, July 30. as the date.
