Becker, who is pros ecuting the Booth-Singleton conspi racy case In the federal court, iwir. er explained that while only 160 acres a quartec-section was involved In me transaction, it was the method of acquiring the land by the lumber company and not the acreage that re sulted in the initirtmnnr nt ovu,.n Senator R. A. Booth, J. H. Booth and tneir orotner-in-law, T. E. Single ton. Becker will complete his statement this afternoon and will be followed by either L. R. Webster or D. J. Malarkev with a ttamnt fr... th defense. It is possible the first wit ness tor tne government may take the stand at a late hour today, this depending on the length or the open ing statement of the defense. The government prosecutors say they can submit all their evidence by Saturday but as there are several points which will require argument, It Ib not be lieved that the government Will be through with Its witnesses before the middle of next week. Thus far the defense has given no Inkling as to the character of the de- fensft tn h aM im nlthmtfh It la ha. lleved they will explain that the mon ey transaction was legitimtae and in the nature of a loan. NEW YORK HANKS STILL GAIN IN CASH RESERVE New York, July 18. The Finan cier will say: Contrary to expectations, the Asso ciated Banks Of New York Cit gain ed largely In cash last week, the statement Indicating an Increase In this item ot $5,186,400. There wos a substantial rise in the loan item of $8,579,000. In consequence ot the Increase Just noted deposits expand ed $13,320,100. The increase In the reserve requirements called for by the enlarged deposits did not absorb all the cash gained during the week, and In consequence the surplus re serve increased $1,856,375, to $51, 970,300. These figures are the re port of actual conditions, the state ment of averages showing larger In creases in all items. The banks are still paying into the treasury public deposits withdrawn by the order of the secretary, and the item of public deposits In the New York Associated Banks is now only $9,333,000, compared with $70,000, 000 at the beginning of the year. The movement of money away from the interior last week was the small est of the year, and as the time Is at hand when money for crop purposes Is needed, it is not likely that the enormous gains which the New York banks have made as a result of the shipments of idle money from all over the country to this centre will continue long. . Eczema, Acne, Tetter, pimples, rashes, eruptions, etc., show that some unhealthy humor or acitl impurity is diseasing and corrupting the circulation, so that instead of supplying- nourishment and strength to the fine, delicate tissues of the skin, it is coutimmlly pouring out its acrid and unhealthy accumulations. External applications of salves, washes, lotions, etc., niav relieve some of the itching and other discomfort caused by skin troubles, and fortius reason should be used, but such treatment cannot reach the humor-laden blood, and therefore cannot cure. A thorough cleansing of the blood is the only cure for skin diseases. S. S. S., a purely vegetable preparation, is the best and quickest remedy. It goes down into the circulation and neutralizes and removes the acids, impurities and humors, thoroughly purines the circulation and permanently cures skin diseases of every kind. When S. S. S. has driven the humors and impurities from the blood, and cooled and cleansed the acid-heated circulation, every symptom passes away, the skin is again nourished with rich, healthful blood and the trouble cured, as the cause has been removed.
