St. Louts. ' Condon. Or., July 9. Two of the I biggest laud deals made here for sev jeral mouths were effected this week i by K. Cumin and J. O. McElrod. One If the buyers is U. McMurphey, ol , Kugene, who takes possession oi the j Skuily ranch, situated one mile north of town, for the consideration of mill. 1 ne ranch is well cultivat ed and is now rented to William Hu bert, and Is all in crop, one-tnird of which went to Lie purchaser. The other ranch was the Wester place. near I lent, which was bought by S. C. Dodson, of this city, for the con sideration of 16,40(1. ; The prices paid for the ranches demonstrate that tillliam county land Is valuable and that the wheat in i terests have not received a crushing iblov on account of reports ot poor j crops In some sections of the county. Mr. McMurphey, when shown'the I dispatch this morning, stated that the deal is not yet completed, but that negotiations are being made for the lana. He expects to make a trip there soon and something definite will then he known about the mat ter. The ranch contains over 900 acres, more than S00 acres being in wheat.
