L. E. Bean, candi date for representative, was the first speaker at the meeting, and he watt followed by W. W. Calkins, Mr. i Bean's running mate on the legisla-l tive ticket. Allen H. Eaton. Repub-j Mean and Statement No. 1 candidate, then spoke. Hon. S. M. Yoran, of j this cHy, was also on the program for an address and 'he delivered hlsi usual strong speech in favor fit Re-1 publican principles. The meeting j was successful in every particular., I and the several candidates are con fident they won many friends among i the audience. I Eaton's remarks were ot special interest because he explained his. position upon Statement No. 1. He! stated that 'ae recievetf the Democrat-, ic nomination, but that at the prop-, er time he refused the nomination. , That the so-called Statement No. 1 i ticket published in the county papers was unauthorized by him, and that1 at his request his name had been dropped from that ticket in the pa- pers. Mr. Eaton then requested all, Republican voters, and especially Statement No. 1 Republicans, to give their support to the entire Kepuhli- can legislative ticket. He asserted that the statement was not an issue! at this time mat tnat issue naa been settled at the Republican primaries.
