COTTAGE GROVE WANTS TO FOXl m;ai)i:r advo: atf.s ctttinc; smcj-okf laxk am) doiolas SAYS IIOHKMIA MIXKItS A.l 801THKKX LANK Ll'MllKBMEX ARE IN FAVOR OF IT LORAXE ALSO The Cottage Grove Leader of this week advocates the creating of a new county out of the southern portion of Lane and the northern portion of Douglas. The Leader in an editorial says: With the extensive Improvmnts and developments In the Bohemia district, which Is situated In both Lant and,. Douglas counties, the es tablishment of groat saw milling and lumber plants in southern Lane and northern Douglas, makes a crying demand for a change in the county boundary line so as to include the Immense natural resources and grow ing Industries of this section In one and the same county, in order to overcome the many difficulties aris ing n securing titles, making cor rect filings and entries, as well as public road and other Improvements. Both Roseburg and Eugene, the present county seats of these respec tive counties, which embrace an area greater than that of several of the New England states, are situat ed so far from this section of both counties as to render it inconvenient and expensive for our people to visit these places continually for the trans action of legal and county business. The time 13 therefore at hand when a good sized Bllce should be carved from both of these counties and a new county .formed. The people of the Lcrane and roast s-etlon favor such a scheme, the Bohemia miners are enthusiastic for it, the Pass crek timber nnd mill men are boosting for. It In fact, there Is not a eitizen In southern Lane or northern Doug las hut can see the grc:'t necessity for such a movement, owing to the pe culiar topography and grouping of resources and Indm-tries embraced within this proposed new county, which would still l-av I, ana and Douglas counties with large territo ry, rich In resources, and tnelr coun ty seat towns centrally located. The Leader thinks the time oppor tune for a concerted movement to ward the formation of a new county from southern Lane nnd northern Douglas, on th part of the' Cottage Grove Commercial Club, and the peo ple or this favored section of these two counties. Let us get busy and bring this mater to a vote of the peo ple at the election two years hence. GOV LI) ROADS TO ISSUE MORE ROXDS. Now York, May 14.
