"There is, of course, a weak tone in .sheep and lower prices may be announced within a few days, but for the present there Is a fair demand for muttons at current quotations and it may after all not be necessary to cut prices for some time to come. Much will, of course, depend upon the size of receipts from this time on. "I can see nothing to Indicate any weakening of the cattle market In the near future. The demand con tinues strong and stocks in this Btate are so small that It is necessary all the time to draw on neighboring states, California, Idaho, Montana and other sections, for supplies. "In the hoe market there Is no change from the conditions of yes terday. The demand is us Btrong as ever and-prlces are well maintained, i Quotations ruling in the livestock market today are; Hogs Rest, $8.00(3 6.25; me diums $5.75 5.50. Cattle Best $11.00 ? 6.25; me dium, $4.50 5)' 4.75; common, $3.50 Cn'4.00; best cows, $4.00; common, $3.505i'3.75; calves, $4.00 (ft 4.50. Sheep Best wethers, $0.00; ewes. $5. 00 li 5.50; spring lambs, $G.00 Butter Market There were more reports today of 6.50. shading of prices 'by some of the city creameries, and the butter mar ket was regarded as weak all along the lino, with the belief general that lower prices would be made within a few riava Very little country creamery is now moving at the top city creamery piC", 'he range Beu erally being 20 to 22 Vi cent a pound. Butter, ir'.-n reported little or no demand for their products in the north tnd iy. Ki!8 Market Is Suv.lv. A steady tone is noted in the local ess market at this time. Rei-eipts are only moderate, although some shipments In their direction are fully up to the av rage of the past few weeks. There Is practically in north ern demand noted at the moment be cause of the larger supplies in local territory. Steady Tone Poultry. In the poultry market the tone is quite steady; all lines being in cluded. The reeelpls at this time are only fair and consist principally of old stocks. Spring chicks are -just as hard to obtain as ever and the trade Is wondering what has become of the large shipments that usually materialize at this period of the year. Spring ducks should be In market by this time, but none are In sight and dealers hove no advice of any shlnnienlB In this direction. Now that there Is a eood demand for tur keys shippers are not willing to send supplies. , Potato Buying Is Heavy. There is very heavy buying of po tatoes in this territory. Orders from the south and the southwest are still showing an increase and the number of shipments is making like progress. There Is practically no disposition among the producers to hold back their sticks because all seem to rea lize that the only way to clean up Is to sell polutoes at a price the out siders will take them at. Brief Notes of (lie Trade. Market Is somewhat overburdened with cabbage and some dealers are making a concession in the price. General value unchanged, however. Business in the hop market is at a standstill, although one or two small sales have been reported of late at low figures. Local head, lettuce is arriving in good supply with demand liberal around 2 5 (Ft) 30c dozen. Cheese market is Bhowlng a good demand at this time with local sup plies quite well cleaned up. More expected tomorrow, however.
