Salem, Or., April 22. Judge Hurnett today over ruled the motion of the de fense in the trial of J. Tho luirn Ituss, president of the defunct Title tiuarantee & Trust Company, charged with converting to bis own use state school funds deposited in bis bank, and admitted the testimony of State Treasurer Steel, who testified to depos iting the moneys with the bank. The defense held that the officers of the bank were not individually resHinsible for the illegal acts of the cor poration over which they have charge. This ruling killed the hope of the defense to escape a jury trial. Willlamsport, Pa.. April 22. Kour Italian laborers were killed, two fa tally hurt and eight seriously injur d by the wrecking of a runaway train on the Lacqulu Lumber Company's log road near here.
