He recently sold his farm at Medford at a good price, and liking Eugene and vicinity more than Medford as a place of residence, concluded to locate here. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Matlock re turned last evening from Cot tage Grove, where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Matlock's broth er, Allen Johnson, who was run over and killed by a train there Friday night. The young man was one of a party that went to Creswell to attend a skating carnival. In some manner ho fell off the rear of the train and his head was badly crushed and his right arm broken. He was ta,ken to a nearby house and later died from his injuries. He was aged 13 years and was the son of William Johnson, a merchant of Cottage Grove.
