All through the workings of the Crystal mine a quality of ore the character of which the operators were unfamiliar, wa3 discovered. Not until recently was the, Identity of this ore proven to the manage ment. It. now develops that (he mine Is Immensely rich In' vanadium, min eral resembling somewcat lead, but far mure valuable. It Is said to be worth $200 to the ton. This mineral Is found throughout the many workings of the mine in considerable quantities, but In most prominence In tunnel No. 3, wh.'re great bodies are said to be in evi dent''. No authentic Information ,ls at hand as to the management' imme diate plans, but It Is understood that active operations will commence in the nour future. KmuiiHi lclfcvcl A.'W. Zlnlkcr returned yesterday to the Muyflower mines, Dohemla. which he left on Christinas day last because his supplies of provisions be came exhausted. Since then the stock that was in the Orseco warehouse has been packed In over Grouse mountain and the famine of December has been relieved. Tho Hnow on the mountains Is said to be ten and twelve feet deep, nnd until this week soft and slushy. Mr. Kinlkcr hoped to find It hardened for this trip. It seems that good weathor has not prevailed In the mountains as It has here In the val ley, but that snow haB fallen every day save two or three during Jan uary a'nd thus far during February. Mrs. Ziniknr goes with her husband to the Mayflower. Mere Snow Than Usual. There Is more snow in Uohemla i i Mr. Frank K. Dunn. whose smiling face Is pictured above, has been (secured at a "fearful" sal ary to play a part on'the end In the grand opening. Many other prom inent minstrel stars will appear In support of Mr. Dunn and he will be usslbted by. a big chorus of 30 male voices. The cast Is not quite com plete, but all parts will be taken to night and the full cost will be an nounced In a few days.
