Hanford as a star in the legitimate drama was hail ed by the press of the entire country as an event of great artistic conse quence. Mr. Hanford bad purchased from the estate of the late Lawrence Barrett the scenery, costumes and parts which had been used in the eel 1 ebrated production of "Julius Cae , sar" by the Booth-Barrett combina- tlon. Of this organization Mr. Han ford had become a conspicuous mem ber owing to his delineation of the role of "Marc Antony." It was his I great success In this part which de cided him in his ambition to be a star and since that time each season has witnessed a steady and substantial increase in his popularity, until at present he ranks with the most pros perous players of the day. Each year Mr. Hanford has offered a spec ial production, and in selecting "Ju lius Caesar" for that purpose now he Intentionally presents a play wh'cb j will command his utmost resources both as to its mounting and as to selection of the cast for its in'evpre tation. In addition to Miss Marie ' Drofnah, who has so brilliantly iden tified herself with the Hanford per formances heretofore, and who will I be seen in the role of "Portia," Mr. Hanford has brought together a com- 1 pany of players who may be depended . on to give adequate pictures not only ! it llo zali'.s czi f.ie cvzV.i i "Casslus," but of the minor eliartc-j ters as well. The American m'lid is i Intensely interested in politics, and j "Julius Caesar," the greatest of all j political dramas, has been meeting I I nrlth o A o m a a .nnnllUn lhat la ' ! not only a compliment to the star '. and his company, but a credit to the artistic tastes of the various cities in which he has appeared. "JuWns Caesar" will be seen at the Eugenj theatre on Friday, March 15. Great Reorganization Sale Continues Campbell-Fellman Co., Eugene's complete and exclusive house furnishers, (Successors to H.
