Of this time eaoh volunteer lost about 11.46 per day, which would make an aggregate sum of about $520,- 028.60. Of oourse at least two-fifths of this number have died without l.av- lug a widow or ohlldren. Of the above sum the ututo of Oregon has not paid one oen' und has not redeemed Kb pledge to th so aged veterans who bave waited 47 years anxiously expcot ing the ttue either to secure this pay from tbe United Statoa or to meet their own obligations.
