H pecial to Guard. Salem, June 13. The offi cers and their posses in pur suit of the escaped peniten tiary convicts Tracey and Merrill, are batuea in tne chase, having lost all trace oi the men. The bloodhounds, never a success to any notable extent, have as little success in track ing the fugitives as the men. The militia companies have been recalled to their homes. The sheriffs of Marion and Clackamas coun ties are still on the hunt searching for clues, never too plain since the men dis appeared in the brush of Mill Creek near the penitentiary grounds.
