on the Quartz Creek aide of Gold Hill.
Another new discovery baa been
made In this district, of which little la
yet known except that It promisee to
be exceedingly rich. Tbe discovery Is
on tbe mountain between Blue River
and the McKenzle, about one-balf
tulle cast of the old Jllue River trail.
This mountain waa never prospected
until quite reoenlly, when several
ledges were found aud Immediately
located by tbe discoverers. At a depth
of only a few feet on one of these
ledges several small nugget of pure
gold were found.

was a lucky day for Bohemia miners
who are workiog their own propertiea,
three exlraordSuary irlk-- having
been made that day, and in tliM'-reiit
parts 'if the camp, over a mile apart.
Harlow & Blocks' mine, on the west
slope of Kairvlew rnouutalu, can now
boast of one of the greatest ehowinas
ever found in tbe district, and If the
values Inorease for a fdw feet more as
they have the last 30 feet, it will sure
ly be a marvelous showing.
Tl ey have len drifting east on
their vein 70 feet, having ore with
values ranging from 17 to $12 per ton
and three to five feet wide. Tbe last 30
feet showed a marked Increase in
values, until a small amount of ore
would show a streak of gold all around
the gold pan. While working Hatur
day, they broke into atbree-lucb streak
of decomposed ore glittering lull of
wire gold From one pan they washed
out $10 in gold . Tbey picked out sev
eral pieces of wire gold matted togeth
er, being over one-balf an Inch In
diameter. Home wires over one inch
long of pure gold were found in tbe
pan.
Tnetp Is nothing about tbe strike
that indicates a pocket, aa many would
suppose. Oo one side of the three-inon
Btreak of decomposed ore there is a foot
of beautiful bard quartz showing wires
of gold running all through It. Ou tbe
other side there Is 20 inobes of honey
combed, free milling ore, oarrying good
values. They have a strong, well
defined vein, and can rightly feel
proud of ..heir good luck.
J W Searson, of Oiouee mountain,
has struck a two lnob atreak of ex
ceedingly rich ore similar to that In
tbe Harlow & Slooks' mine, showing
knots of wire gold aa lurneas a hazel
nut. He has good ore accompanying
and increasing in width.
Elmer Brooks and partner, north of
Grizzly Peak, have also struck some
very rich ore, showing tbe free gold
conspicuously, but tbe extent of tbe
ore body has not yet been ascertained
In the Sweepstake mine, on Ele
phant mountain, after running a 200
root crosscut, tbe vein was cut in a
plnub, showing verv little more than
a stream ot water. Drifting 80 feet on
the vein brought in view three feet of
fiee-milllng ore, averagiug $12 per ion,
and the ore body is iooreaBlng.
That Phenomenal Rainfall.
Purtland bad an Inch of rainfall in
tweuty minutes of tbe gentle rain
storm that passed over Eugene Wed
nesday. The Telegram has this about
