The Willamette Poultry and Fet Stock Association Is demonstrating the fact that It it allva and ot a prosperous nature. A meeting of the executive committee was held In Eugene July 4tb, and a proposition from W W Browning, of Ugden, Utah, to Judge tbe association's next exhibit, which will be December 27, 28 and 20, 1000 was accepted. The Salem Journal of yesterday has the following regarding the encamp ment: Salem Is fortunate. In securing tblsj encampment which will be the great est yet held. It will draw tbous rids of visitors from all over the state to this city. Elaborate preparations are being made by the hotels, restaurant and boarding houses, for the prnpe accomodation of the expected crowd and visitors will hiive no reasou to complain of their treatment. On Sunday next, the second day of tbe encampment, the popular exeur- sion of tbe Foresters of America will bring at least 3000 peop.e to Salem, to visit tbe camp of tbe O N G, and an outdoor entertainment will also take place al the fair grounds. A Pioneer Dead. Salem, July 6 Mrs Elizabeth Chap man, aged 80 years, 6 months and 19 (lays, died at her home In this city last uight. . She was an early Oregou plo. neer, having crossed the plains witb ox teams In 184S witb her husband Caleb Chapman, who died here In 1892. Mrs Chapman has lived in this county sinee 1848, and In Salem slice 1883. She left two daughters Mrs Hattie Jackson and Mrs Sadie McFad den In Salem, and two sous, J A of Mlddleton, Wash, and Caleb A at Waitsburg Wash.
