The Lane County Veteran's Asso ciation, the GAR, Ladles of tbe G A Rand Sons of Veterans assembled in Frank's hall last evening. The ladles sang some aoul atirrlng old war songs. Tbe meeting called together by Frank Kelsner, president of the Laue County Veteran's Association. The address of welcome was delivered by Comrade R H Miller and waa truly patriotic It responded - to by Comrades Cook Lincoln aod others. Miss Floreaoe Quimby, department secretary of the Ladiea G A R, ex plained tbe workings of that order. Comrade Miller of Cittage Grove recited a camp fire poem. Mrs Philips of HoBsburg spoke interestingly of the Soldiers' Home. Mrs Butcher ex plained that the Ladies GAR wss not an auxiliary but co-worker with the GAR. Mrs Wands of Salem, acting president, gave an entertaining address. Comrade McElroy Bpoke of tbe chivalry of the veterans during tbe southern campaign. Comrade Chap. man lent IiIh endorsement to the Ladles GAR after wbloh the recep tion was brought to a close. Tbe reef ptiou was a grand success In every particular. LADIES OAR. The convention of the Ladle G . R etitl goes merrily on. Tbe convention was opened at o'clock, senior vloe president In the obalr, and proceeded to business with a orowded house. . For three-quarters of an hour the Circle and offloers were kept busy administering the obliga tion or their respeoti ve orden. Twenty Comrade were obligated and other business transacted. At 9:30 the Old Veterans fell In line and a procession was formed In .the following order: The GAR, Depart- m nt offloers, Ladies of G A R in a carriage, and Rich Mountain Circle on foot, and tbey all stepped off with heads up, beaded by a Martial Band each organization bearing the starry banner. The line of march wen. noith on Oak street to 7l.h, thence west to Willamette, thenoe south to 10th thence east to Oak, then north to 9th and tbe place of beginiog. At 12o'olcK)k; Mr Lunoh was an1 nounoed, and all repaired to the G A R Halt where all were served with lunch and coffee, and all enjoyed themselves for three-quarters of an hour.
